Have the oil changed, refill the window-washing fluid, re-stock your first-aid kit, make sure there are jumper cables in the trunk, and, if you live in an area where it regularly reaches 45 degrees Fahrenheit or below...***consider*** ***investing in winter tires!*** Unlike all-weather tires, which compromise performance during extreme weather for year-round functionality, winter tires are designed specifically for rough winter weather. There are three components of winter tires that are optimized for performance during extreme conditions and low temperatures... **Rubber** The rubber used in winter tires is softer than that of all-weather tires, which prevents stiffening at cold temperatures. The extra flexibility also allows the tire to better grip the road. **Tread** Winter tires have deeper tread than all-weather tires, allowing for increased traction. The tread patterns are also more intricate, channeling snow and slush out and away from the tire. **Biting edges** The tiny, shallow slits within a tire's tread are known as "biting edges" and grip the road as the tire turns. Winter tires have far more biting edges than all-weather tires, providing for greater traction on snowy or sleet-covered roads.   ---   Experts recommend winter tires for people who regularly drive in a region that reaches 45 degrees Fahrenheit or lower throughout the winter months. Investment in winter tires will provide you with heightened confidence while driving in rough winter conditions, and confidence is paramount to driver safety.  To figure out which tires work with your vehicle, [Click Here to visit Goodyear.com](https://www.goodyear.com/) and click on the "Find Tires" button.
